PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. To support the vision and goals of the campus and district Fine Arts program, to produce outstanding dancers and performers, to develop individual dance skills in all students, to promote an appreciation for the best in all areas of dance, and to teach the value of individual and team effort in reaching a common goal. Empower students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subjects/level assigned (Dance and Physical Education)

Demonstrate high competency in the area of dance curriculum

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Strong Dance pedagogy background

Experience working with high school drill teams

Strong background in personal relations with students, colleagues and the community

Highly organized, must be able to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously

Knowledge of district and campus financial procedures

Strong positive background dealing with parents

Ability to collaborate with peers and colleagues on campus and across Tomball ISD

Experience:

At least one year of successful student teaching or internship

Duties and Responsibilities:

Instruct dance students at Tomball Memorial High School and assist with the Silver Stars Drill Team

Maintain quality student management and discipline in the organization and in the classroom.

Maintain accurate, up-to-date inventory of school equipment.

Perform other duties as assigned

Manage all funds and budgets of the Dance Department

Maintain emotional control under stress.  Frequent travel required in-district and out-of-district for school functions and/or activities.  Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
