Campus-Based Behavior Coach

 

This is a Title I funded position for the 2023-2024 school year.

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Behavior Coach is a professional support position. The Behavior Coach will collaborate with educators to develop, model, train and implement behavioral interventions for all students. The Coach reports to the campus principal.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsement of Elementary Generalist and/or Special Education

Experience:

Three years classroom instruction experience with mentor and peer coaching experience preferred.

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals and legal documents. 

Ability to effectively present information to administration, campus groups and special services.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Demonstrates a strong foundation in Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports (PBIS)
  2. Participates in the process and interpretation of Functional Behavior Assessment.
  3. Designs and implements multi-faceted behavior interventions.
  4. Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively with parents and professionals.
  5. Understands and works with the various support systems available in the community.
  6. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle emotionally charged situations.
  7. Ability to develop, model and train others to apply effective and research based behavior management program.
  8. Possesses a basic understanding of educational curriculum and instructional methods.

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

  1. Participate in the district staff development program.
  2. Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
  3. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
  4. Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and district policies for classroom teachers.
  5. Assume responsibility for compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records, and other documents required.

  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
