Primary Purpose:
Oversee the implementation and compliance of the Child Nutrition Program at the campus level under the direction of the Director of Child Nutrition, Assistant Director and/or assigned Field Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must hold and maintain a valid Food Handler’s Certificate from ServSafe or another accredited source. Completion of the manager training class and TASN certified or actively seeking certification.
Minimum Experience:
Two years experience with Tomball ISD as a production specialist and/or assistant manager, or equivalent experience with another school food service establishment/food service establishment.
Special Knowledge and Skills:
Have a working knowledge of the school food service environment. Able to work without direct supervision and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain department standards for quality food products, sanitation, and conduct monthly training.
- Assume an active role in increasing student participation in the Child Nutrition Program by encouraging student-planned menus and supporting other projects and promotions developed by the department.
- Order food and supplies properly.
- Correctly receive and verify the receipt of all food and supplies.
- Demonstrate a desire for professional growth in all Child Nutrition areas by attending meetings, seminars, and classes.
- Supervise the storage of all food supplies and maintain reasonable inventory levels.
- Supervise all food preparation and service for quality and quantity.
- Maintain acceptable food/supplies cost.
- Assure that approved food handling and sanitation procedures are followed.
- Follow the meal pattern requirements.
- Ensure that menus are prepared and served as posted.
- Prepare and post a work schedule.
- Turn in all reports, orders, and invoices when due.
- Keep accurate Food Production Records.
- Audit the cashier and oversee deposits and record keeping for accuracy.
- Maintain accurate and up to date perpetual and physical inventories.
- Maintain acceptable meals per man hour and labor cost.
- Follow and communicate all policies and procedures to Child Nutrition staff and school administrators.
- Train staff effectively.
- Evaluate assigned personnel and maintain accurate, accessible records.
- Document misconduct and communicate counseling needs to Supervisor and/or Assistant Director/Director.
- Monitor personal hygiene and appearance of all staff.
- Seek ways to improve skills needed for the job.
- Attend Manager in-service and monthly meetings on time.
- Report all accidents as per proper department procedure and follow-up to ensure accidents do not reoccur.
- Respond immediately to Health Department inspections.
- Responsible for proper use and care of equipment and reports maintenance problems promptly.
- Demonstrate computer skills by use of Child Nutrition software and hardware.
- Participate in all Child Nutrition promotions.
- Exhibit courteous and professional behavior toward school staff, students, visitors, and co-workers.
- Good attendance, punctual, and dependable.
- Demonstrate good problem solving skills.
- Exhibit proper personal appearance and hygiene.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to lift 25 lbs without assistance and on occasion repetitively
Work in a fast paced environment, and stand for extended periods of time
Moderate exposure to extreme temperature changes
Physical demands will include: walking, pushing, pulling, carrying, some stooping, bending, and twisting
Equipment Used:
Use of large and small commercial kitchen equipment including: electric slicer, mixer, pressure and convection steamer, convection oven, dish machine, food processor, and sharp/serrated cutting tools.
