Primary Purpose:

Support instructional programming by conducting small group skill reinforcement through games, songs, targeted instructional strategies, etc.  Facilitate the effective operations of the campus workroom.  Support the operations of the school including transitions, library, special programs, front office and classroom activities. Operate one or more types of duplicating machines to reproduce instructional materials.  Work under general supervision to provide clerical assistance to campus faculty.  Supervise students as needed throughout the school day inside and outside the classroom and assist teachers with instructional exercises and work with students as requested.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Associate’s degree, two years (48 hours) of study at an institute of higher learning, or have met formal academic assessment requirements

Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification will be recommended by the district upon hire

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to work well with children

Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions 

Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to operate standard office equipment and ability to use a personal computer

Experience:

Some experience working with children

 

Working Conditions

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions. Moderate walking, standing, heavy lifting and carrying up to 53 pounds; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Responsibilities require contact with individuals that may include exposure to disruptive behavior.
