Primary Purpose:
To support implementation of district early childhood and early literacy programs and initiatives (Kindergarten through fourth grade).
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree from an accredited university
Master Reading Teacher Certification preferred
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
Elementary Certificate
GT and ESL Certificate preferred
Science of Reading Certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Reading background and dyslexia experience preferred
Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff development
Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teacher effectiveness
Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines and TEKS for K-4
Knowledge of rules and regulations for public school early childhood programs
Knowledge of best practices in development in literacy
Knowledge of research-based balanced literacy programs
Experience:
Five years successful elementary classroom teaching experience in literacy required
Classroom experience at both primary and upper elementary levels preferred
Experience with planning and presenting staff development presentations required
Experience in development of literacy curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs
required
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Pay Grade: 60
