Primary Purpose:

Implement district school health program and provide direct services to meet the needs of the students and staff under the clinical supervision of the Director of Health Services or the school nurse (RN).

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Education/Certification:

High School diploma or GED

Valid Texas license issued by the Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Certification in basic first aid and CPR – Training will be offered.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills a must

Proficient keyboarding and file maintenance skills

Computer comfortable

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).

Minimum Experience:

One year experience in health-related position, including contact with school-age children

Responsibilities require contact with sick and/or injured person(s), which may include exposure to body fluids, bacteria, communicable diseases, and disruptive behavior.  There may be exposure to potentially hazardous medical equipment and/or chemicals.  The job requires ability to perform CPR and other vigorous activities related to nursing duties.  The job requires walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting/carrying work related items such as medical equipment, books, etc. and possibly lifting up to 53 pounds when assisting with a student or employee transfer.
