PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To work with students identified as EL in campuses service Vietnamese students. Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required endorsements for subject/level assigned
Special Knowledge and Skills:
Must be Bilingual Vietnamese
Knowledge of subjects assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Experience:
At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparationas required.
- Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for English learners.
- Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved.
- Assess student learning and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify curricula as needed to serve English learners.
- Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district requirements.
Student Growth and Development:
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits of study.
- Assess the achievement of students on a regular basis through formal and informal testing and provide progress reports as required.
- Must travel from campus to campus within our district to serve students.
Classroom Management and Organization:
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in the district staff development program.
- Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and district policies for classroom Teachers.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings.

- Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and documents requires.
- Keep informed of and comply with federal, state, district and school regulations and policies.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. The periodsimmediately preceding and during district testing are often stressful and demand long hours. Other projects may also require long hours. The distribution of testing materials requires the handling of boxes that may weigh up to 40 pounds.
