Primary Purpose:

To support implementation of district early childhood and early literacy programs and initiatives (Kindergarten through sixth grade).

 

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university

Valid Texas Teaching Certificate

Elementary Certificate

ESL Certificate

Master’s Degree required 

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Reading background and dyslexia experience preferred

Working knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff development

Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teacher effectiveness

Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of Kindergarten Guidelines and TEKS for K-6

Knowledge of best practices in development of literacy and ESL methodologies

Knowledge of research-based literacy programs for English language learners

Outstanding personal/interpersonal skills; openness towards teacher conferences

Professional demeanor/tactfulness in communication

Experience:

Five years successful elementary classroom teaching experience in literacy required

Experience with planning and presenting staff development presentations required

Experience in development of literacy curriculum, instruction, and assessment programs required

Experience in leadership capacities utilizing collaborative and coaching strategies.

 

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.

 

Wage/Hour Status:  Exempt

Pay Grade:  60
