Primary Purpose:

Maintain and protect the integrity of the district master key system as well as maintain and install all types of hardware and associated components used throughout the district. Perform and maintain records of inspections as required by national and local fire and life safety codes.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Education/Certification: High School Diploma or G.E.D. and Fire Door Inspector Certification

Minimum Expierence: 2 years working with master key control systems

Special Knowledge and Skills: 

Must have excellent general knowledge of how locks and all types of hardware are constructed and operate

Needs to be able to read a master key schedule and operate master key software and keying equipment

Ability to read and understand building prints and specifications

Ability to complete fire door inspections and paperwork

Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software applications

Good personnel and communication skills

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1.  Oversee and administer the district building secuirty system including issuing keys, and         electronic FOB's. Work with and train campus staff in the key control systems and                 campus required documentation.

2.   Maintain and install all types of hardware and locking systems. System operation include        conventional, electric and wireless operations.

3.   Make keying recommendations and design new keying plans as needed within the                  district master key system.

4.   Keep up-to-date records of all locks and combinations for all district facilities.

5.   Administer software to control and operate electronic locks used in the district at                  multiple locations.

6.   Maintain district lockers and associated key systems for all district facilities

7.   Maintain lock and hardware parts inventory and assist Director in annual budget                    planning needs.

8.   Maintain and update computerized key control records and assist Director to insure all            campuses are following the district key control policies.

9.   Attend training to improve or upgrade skills and stay abreast of latest technologies                available. Stay in compliance of all applicable codes.

10.  Prepare and maintain fire code inspections related to hardware for all district facilities

11.  Demonstrate a willingness and positive attitude toward performing other duties                     assigned.  

 

Equipment Used:

Computerized key equipment, all types of poered and non-powered hand tools, ladders, specialized locksmith tools, picks and equipment, laptop computer and software for programming

Physical Demands:

Strenuous walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting - over 45 pounds. Responsibilities of the position can cause and require irregular work hours.

Environment: 

Work outside and inside; Exposure to hot and cold temperatures; work in confined spaces; work at elevated levels; work on uneven surfaces; work alone.

Pay Grade:  Auxiliary 6 - Annualized
